Milling Machine Beam
The beam is a horizontal transverse beam, typically parallel to the milling machine's worktable or bed, and spans between the columns or supports.
The main function of the milling machine beam is to support the milling head or spindle and enable it to move up and down along the Z-axis of the milling machine. This vertical movement is often referred to as the Z-axis feed, which controls the vertical motion of the cutting tool, adjusting the cutting depth and position on the workpiece. The beam usually features height-adjustment capability, allowing the milling head or spindle to be raised or lowered to accommodate different workpiece requirements.
