Differential
A differential is a device used in motor vehicles such as cars, trucks, and tractors to allow the two driving wheels (usually the rear wheels) to rotate at different speeds while driving. When driving in a straight line, the gears in the differential rotate at the same speed, allowing the two driving wheels to rotate at the same speed. However, when the vehicle needs to turn during driving, the distance traveled by the inner and outer tires is different, so a differential is needed to allow the two driving wheels to rotate at different speeds, thus avoiding tire slippage or loss of control. Modern vehicles often use technologies such as limited-slip differentials and electronic differentials to improve driving performance and stability. In addition, the differential can be combined with other technologies, such as traction control systems and anti-lock braking systems to further improve the stability and safety of the vehicle on various road surfaces.
